Welcome to the Gibson Doxey Chronicles where no pioneer story is too long or three Nephite story too tall! However, politics are not welcomed here as we want this blog to have as much love and unity as a Hinkley family reunion. Let's make sure everyone who visits feels as comfortable as Dave sneaking an after-dinner pick on Grammy's couch. So sit back and enjoy all the family news.

The Valentine's Day Slug of Love

We started a new tradition in our family this year for Valentine's Day. We wanted to give our kids some little gifts in the morning but couldn't decide how to explain the gifts, so we made up a new Valentine's Day folk hero (like the Easter Bunny or Santa) and made up the following song. It brought such joy and happiness to our family that we thought we would share it with everyone. Who knows, it may just catch on across the nation and even the world. There is music with it, but you will have to wait until we can post an audio file.

The Slug of Love, by Robert J. Young

He’s the slug of love, he’s the slug of love,

He’s the slug, slug, slug, of love.

He’s the slug of love, he’s the slug of love,

He’s the slug, slug, slug, of love.

Go to sleep on time, and don’t leave behind,

Any salt upon the floor.

‘Cause sometime tonight, if your heart is right,

He will slip beneath you door.

(Chorus)

He may bring you a treat, nothing salty just sweet,

And a toy or gift for you.

His service is slow, but a sliming he’ll go,

Spreading love the whole night through.

(Chorus)

P.S. To all you older kids, there is no such thing as a slug of love--think about it!
